Dan and I will be traveling to Ireland on Tuesday. We’ll spend a few days on our own before meeting the tour group in Dublin on May 15th. In those few extra days we plan to visit Mayo and Sligo – particularly Down Patrick Head and some megalithic sites around Benbulben (pictured left). We also hope to see a few old friends who live in the area.
We’ll spend our first few nights in Westport (and spend some time in Matt Molloy’s Bar). Murrisk Abbey is another stop as is the famine memorial and Croagh Patrick.
I’ll be guiding the Thin Places Mystical Tour of Ireland from May 15 – 24, and will take seven special pilgrims to sacred, mystical sites – mostly in Ireland’s south and western areas. The tour starts with visits to Newgrange, Tara, and Slane. The next days bring us to Kildare, Cashel, Ardmore, Kinsale, Kenmare, Dursey, Dingle and many places in between. Magical places. Spiritual places. Thin Places.

This is the first post in about a dozen I hope to complete over the next 25 days. Each post will be about our experiences on this Irish trip. Besides Dan I’ll be traveling with Vonda, Rosemary, Paula, Ione, Tom, Helen and Kathleen – all friends I haven’t yet met.
